Sheriffs Call For Congressional Action on Immigration

Sheriff Brad Cole wants the legal residents of Christian County to be kept safe from illegal immigrants who are involved in criminal activity and has recently joined with sheriff’s from across the country in a call for action. Below is the March 26th, 2018 press release from the National Sheriff’s Association and a link to the letter sent to the Members of Congress. “Sheriffs from around the country sent a letter to all Members of Congress outlining the need for congressional action on securing America’s border. The letter, signed by over 310 sheriffs representing 40 states. was spearheaded by Sheriff Thomas Hodgson from Bristol County, Massachusetts. “We’re calling on Congress to take action now, on the security issues at the border and against sanctuary policies in our states, cities, and towns. These sanctuary policies directly undermine and limit cooperation and collaboration between local, state and federal law enforcement, making it harder for America’s sheriffs to protect our citizens and legal residents,” said Sheriff Hodgson. “Congress’ inaction undermines sheriffs’ ability to protect our citizens. Sheriffs across this country have signed this letter because Congress cannot continue to weaken our efforts to make our communities as safe as possible,” National Sheriffs’ Association Executive and CEO Jonathan Thompson said.” The letter and list of sheriffs can be found here.
