Sheriff Brad Cole Supports President Trump’s Border Security Efforts;

Sheriff Brad Cole Supports President Trump’s Border Security Efforts;

Urging residents to contact their Congressional representatives and express support for border security funding.

I support President Trump’s address to the American people regarding the need for the immediate funding and construction of a border wall and I call on my members of Congress from the State of Missouri to support funding and construction of the wall.

We have a growing humanitarian and security crisis at our Southern Border, as president Trump outlined in his address Tuesday night:

  • Americans are hurt by uncontrolled, illegal migration.
  • It strains public resources and drives down jobs and wages
  • It is a pipeline for vast quantities of illegal drugs – including meth, heroin, cocaine and fentanyl.
  • Each week, 300 of our citizens are killed by heroin alone – 90 percent of which floods across from our Southern Border and is produced by Mexico.
  • More Americans will die from drugs this year than were killed in the entire Vietnam War.
  • In the last two years, ICE officers made 266,000 arrests of aliens with criminal records – including those charged or convicted of 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes and 4,000 violent killings.
  •  Thousands of Americans have been brutally killed by those who illegally entered our country, and thousands more lives will be lost if we don’t act right now.

President Trump has presented Congress with a detailed proposal to secure the border and stop the criminal gangs, drug smugglers and human traffickers. The proposal was developed by law enforcement professionals and border agents at the Department of Homeland Security. The proposal from Homeland Security includes cutting-edge technology for detecting drugs, weapons and other illegal contraband.

A border wall will quickly pay for itself. The cost of illegal drugs exceeds $500 billion dollars a year – far more than the $5.7 billion that is requested from Congress.

To every Member of Congress: Please pass a bill which is productive and will help to end the continued flow of illegal migration, drugs and human trafficking into our country, which then takes root in my local community.

To every citizen: Please contact your Congressional representatives and tell them to finally – after all of these decades – secure our border and stop the devastation to our local communities with drugs and criminality.

Sheriff Brad Cole Invited To The White House

Sheriff Brad Cole Invited To The White House

Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole to join almost 50 Sheriffs in Washington calling for action on immigration reforms

Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole will be in Washington DC on Wednesday, Sept. 5, to meet with White House officials on illegal immigration matters, and to urge Congress to act on pending legislation to increase border security.
Sheriff Cole will join almost 50 other Sheriffs from across the country as a united group of elected law enforcement officials at a media event on Capitol Hill on Wednesday morning. Joined by some members of Congress, this group of Sheriffs will share their experiences and public safety challenges associated with illegal aliens and call on Congress to act on pending legislation to increase border security and reform the Immigration system.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Sheriffs will participate in a roundtable discussion at the White House with administration officials and policymakers. Hosted by the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, the roundtable will focus on immigration, border security, and efforts by some elected officials to prevent the critical collaboration of local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies. These partnerships maximize law enforcement’s potential to identify criminals in communities and remove
them from neighborhoods.

“The purpose of this visit is to express the urgency of Congress passing legislation immediately on the security aspects of immigration reform,” Sheriff Cole said. “It is our intention to tell Congress that their failure to deal with this issue for 20 years has made our communities less safe and has undermined our promise to the people who elected us to keep them safe.

“During our visit to the White House, we will discuss the challenges we face as a result of the ongoing Congressional stalemate, strategies to more easily identify criminal illegal aliens, and explore ways to expand and protect our valuable and critically important relationships with our local, state and federal law enforcement partners,” Sheriff Cole continued. “We will also take the opportunity to express and thank President Trump and his administration for re-establishing law enforcement’s footing to enforce our laws.
“America’s Sheriffs are elected by the people in their communities to keep them safe, and the continued inaction of Congress has put a major roadblock in law enforcement’s path to protecting our citizens and legal residents. It is our sworn duty to protect our citizens, and we, as Sheriffs, view this opportunity to push for meaningful immigration reform as a way to uphold our promise, our commitment, to the people who elected us to protect them.”

Sheriffs Call For Congressional Action on Immigration

Sheriffs Call For Congressional Action on Immigration

Sheriff Brad Cole wants the legal residents of Christian County to be kept safe from illegal immigrants who are involved in criminal activity and has recently joined with sheriff’s from across the country in a call for action. Below is the March 26th, 2018 press release from the National Sheriff’s Association and a link to the letter sent to the Members of Congress.

“Sheriffs from around the country sent a letter to all Members of Congress outlining the need for congressional action on securing America’s border. The letter, signed by over 310 sheriffs representing 40 states. was spearheaded by Sheriff Thomas Hodgson from Bristol County, Massachusetts.

“We’re calling on Congress to take action now, on the security issues at the border and against sanctuary policies in our states, cities, and towns. These sanctuary policies directly undermine and limit cooperation and collaboration between local, state and federal law enforcement, making it harder for America’s sheriffs to protect our citizens and legal residents,” said Sheriff Hodgson.

“Congress’ inaction undermines sheriffs’ ability to protect our citizens. Sheriffs across this country have signed this letter because Congress cannot continue to weaken our efforts to make our communities as safe as possible,” National Sheriffs’ Association Executive and CEO Jonathan Thompson said.”

The letter and list of sheriffs can be found here.

2016 Christmas Message From Sheriff Brad Cole

Friends,

The holiday season is upon us and with it brings opportunities to create memories we will cherish for years to come. I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge the men and women who have worked tirelessly over the course of the last 16 months to provide the best services to our wonderful community. We have employed some of the most dedicated Deputies and administrative staff in the history of this office. Collectively, we have been able to achieve so much, and they all deserve our utmost appreciation.

I’d also like to thank many members of our community. The county’s emergency response team (CERT), has volunteered countless hours to provide support during some of our most critical incidents. Students from our inaugural Sheriff’s Office Citizen’s Academy, who continue to actively assist the Sheriff’s Office in whatever capacity they can. A very special thanks to all of the men and women who have supported law enforcement across the country during a time when it may not be socially acceptable to do so.  Thank you all!

In the coming days, many of us will be spending time with our loved ones for the holidays. I challenge everyone to help keep our roadways safe for those traveling through our county. Please, buckle up and remember to drink responsibly. Deputies will be covering many of our more frequently traveled roads to ensure safe travels for all motorists, but should you encounter an unsafe driver, report it.

It is the mission of the Christian County Sheriff’s Office to protect the people we serve. We can only do this with the help of my Deputies and the citizens we serve. On behalf of everyone at the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, have a safe and happy holiday season! Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and God bless you all!

Sincerely,

Sheriff Brad Cole
